K-Palette, an award winning makeup brand from Japan

KONNICHIWA, AUGUST-SU!

Not too long ago, I had the opportunity to meet with makeup artist, Noriko Imura. She was flown in from Japan for the launch of K-Palette's newest range of beauty products and she introduced us a couple of them by giving us a very personal beauty workshop right at SASA, BSC.

intro-1

These are K-Palette's newest range of products. They have everything a girl needs to accomplish either a kawaii (as Noriko mentioned) or more of a smoky and sexy look.

yuki-3

Yuki was our model of the day. Step by step, Noriko taught us the techniques to apply certain beauty products on areas of our face and now, this is where I come in handy. I will be blogging about what she taught us so that you'll learn a thing or two too!

test-1

This was what it looked like when we had the opportunity to try on some of the products. In front of a full length mirror in SASA.

Sarah & I. Haven't seen her ever since she went over to New Zealand to work which was more than a year ago. Looking as pretty as ever, babe!

test-3
Found a better spot to try on the products.

test-2
Loving SASA's vanity mirrors. Especially the soft glow of white light around it. Makes my eyes glow in pictures!

With two of my favorite products from K-Palette. The eyeliner and the concealer.

Plus, my OOTD :
Dress from Clothes For Fun.
Wedges from Sunway Pyramid (forgot the shop)
and Bag from Charles & Keith.

Today, I will be blogging of basic makeup techniques which is the first level of makeup to every other makeup techniques there is.

The most important thing to remember before putting your makeup is to apply your toner and moisturizer first. This is to protect your face from getting dry, aging and also to ease your foundation application which comes after.

1-ba-foundation
Bare naked face (left) & After foundation (right)

After having applied your foundation, comes the concealer. A little something about putting on your foundation. Use the right brush instead of fingers. It blends better and it uses less of the foundation compared to using fingers because with fingers you tend to pick up more of the liquid.

2-concealer

K-Palette Zero Kuma Concealer No.1 (Natural Beige) RM44.90. If you don't know which colour is right for your skin, No.1 is the best choice for all skin colour. Totally covers dark circles and keeps skin moisturized.

3-applyconcealer

NORIKO'S BEAUTY TIP : This is a new tip that I've learnt from Noriko. When applying concealer, dot three dots under your eyes and a slightly larger one at the bottom of the three to create a triangle. Later on, using your fourth finger (the least pressure of the lot), blend according to the shape of the triangle without spreading the concealer over your cheekbones. This is to highlight your under eye area and to create a shape where your cheekbones seemed darker. Instant sharper features!

4-after concealer

After that, puff your face with compact powder to smoothen your look. Remember to avoid the triangle area because you want that highlight!

eyebrow-1

NORIKO'S BEAUTY TIP : The shape of your brows is the key to how your look portrays. Noriko drew an example of how vast a person can look like with only two eyebrow shapes.

1. The dotted lines touching your brow, is the place where you arch them. If you would like to achieve a kawaii (cute, in Japanese) look, choose the arch parallel to the end of your iris.

2. If you prefer to go for the exotic and sexy look, choose the arch parallel to the end of your eye. You can see the difference with the left and right mini eye drawn above the main one. Left is kawaii, right is sexy.

If you noticed the dotted lines where the lips and end eyebrow meets, then yes, that is where your eyebrow tip should end for a kawaii-er look and if you wish to get sexy eyebrows instead, choose the dotted lines on the side of the nose parallel with the end of your eyes. This will create a longer and sharper eyebrow. An easier way to achieve the lines on your face, use a pencil against your face to be your guide.

5-eyebrow

Here is K-Palette's Lasting 2 Way Eyebrow (Chocolate Brown) RM59.90. There are two points to this tool. One side, powder and the other, liquid. Amazing, right?

7-eyebrow

Use the powder part to fill the front section of your eyebrow as it illustrates it with a natural look. Use the liquid part to end your eyebrow with a pointed tip. The liner is waterproof, so go crazy in the swimming pool!

6-eyebrow

8-eyebrow
Eyebrows done!

The best thing about this 2 Way Eyebrow tool is that it can be used as a natural brown eyeshadow too. Use the powder tip to line your eyelid very gently. It creates a very natural earthy look, which is great for any casual outing.

9-eyeshadow
With (right) and without (left) eyeshadow.

10-eyeshadow
A complete look with eyeshadow! I can even go out like this without any eyeliner and it looks great, actually.

NORIKO'S BEAUTY TIP : I asked Noriko the only thing that I was really curious about. HOW TO DO NOSE CONTOUR! Unfortunately, most Asians aren't born with super high nose bridge. So, she taught me how to create a higher nose bridge. I was super excited to see the results.

With K-Palette's Lasting 2 Way Eyebrow (yes the same tool), she made my eyebrow edgier towards my nose which created an illusion of a sharper nose bridge.

eyebrow-2

I have yet to perfect it myself, so this is the aftermath of Noriko's work of art on my brows. What do you think?

11-eyeliner
K-Palette's Real Lasting Eyeliner 24hr WP (waterproof) RM59.90

This eyeliner is smudge-free, resistant to water and sweat! Can be easily removed with lukewarm water despite the long-lasting finish. This means, it is very gentle on your skin. You can even achieve thin and thick strokes with the same liner.

12-eyeliner
After applying on one side. With (right) and without (left) eyeliner.

13-eyeliner

Draw both sides with an arch slightly before the end of your lids. This is a technique done by Noriko and I tried it just now. Love it! Please excuse the gap line in between liner and eyelashes. Didn't notice that.

14-END

And that's all! Feel free to experiment yourself with K-Palette's range of beauty products. Oh, and guess what? You'll be rewarded for that too!
